1) It’s Eco-friendly- Unlike most wood products in which lumber comes from the trunk of the tree, cork comes from the bark of the cork oak tree. The bark is harvested every nine years and the trees are not cut down or damaged in the process. The removal of bark actually increases the tree’s lifespan. Also, there is very little waste in the production process. In fact, often times the waste from the production of cork wine stoppers is used to produce the cork flooring.
2) Comfort- Cork is made up of millions of tiny air pockets that give it a cushiony feel (they also make it more resilient). It is a great option for areas in which you stand on your feet for long periods of time, such as a kitchen.
3) Aesthetics- Not only are there a lot of practical reasons to choose cork flooring, but it is also a beautiful and unique looking floor. There are many pattern and color options available.
These are only a few of the many reasons that cork is a great flooring option. For more information and to see samples, stop by our showroom. There is also great information on the Natural Cork website.
